I just ordered beeswax (pure American white beeswax) from swans candles for the first time. I use the beeswax to seal my canvas paintings. I was expecting blocks of wax, but what I received was 'flakes'. Is this the same as the blocks when melted? Has anyone used this 'form of beeswax' to seal paintings with? If anyone has experience with using this type of beeswax to seal canvas paintings, I would love to hear your expertise on the subject. Thanks for replying in advance.
Hi, Our beeswax would be the same beeswax if we melted it and poured it into blocks. The form doesn't matter other than ease of use. When the beeswax is refined it is in liquid form. Some people pour it into slabs or pound forms and other run it thru a beader system. The results are the same when remelted. We sell tons of this beeswax to encaustic artists all over the World.
